HYPNOTHERAPY FOR CHILDREN AGED 5-12
For almost 20 years I have been working as a teacher supporting children in their academic development and now I am delighted to be able to offer my services as a Hyno4Children practitioner, working with children to support their emotional and mental wellbeing.
Children are wonderful, creative, imaginative and cheeky! Up until the age of around 7, they think, feel and behave mainly from their subconscious mind, without the analytical reasoning that they develop as they grow up. They absorb everything around them like a sponge, which is wonderful when what they are exposed to is positive and helpful and makes them feel loved and safe. Unfortunately, however, if they are exposed to a lot of negative experiences, they can easily develop unhelpful beliefs or thought patterns about themselves or the world and these will often carry through into adulthood if not managed at a young age. Examples could range from seemingly insignificant yet impactful events to more serious traumas, but all can lead to issues such as low self-esteem, fears and phobias, anxieties or bedwetting.
Children often respond very well to hypnotherapy and it can help them build their confidence, resilience and self-esteem with relative ease. The Hypno4Children programme utilises the 'Mind Hack System' , which incorporates several therapy modalities including Hypnotherapy, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Tapping, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Positive Psychology/coaching. In combination with this framework, I will also use Rapid Transformational Therapy techniques to help them even further.
Hypnotherapy for children will look different to a typical session with an adult, using a more gentle, natural and informal approach to bring about positive change. Working with the child's imagination, techniques used may include stories, games, pictures, discussions, questions and imagery and may or may not involve hypnosis with eyes closed. This variety of strategies helps them learn about the mind and understand better why they feel the way they do. Children will be equipped with a personal 'toolbox' of techniques and tools that they can use by themselves, enabling them to regulate their thought patterns, emotions and behaviours more effectively.
